PONYDANCECLYDE SUNNY SUNDAY MIXTAPE VOL. 13

With this Edition of the weekly PONYDANCECLYDE SUNNY SUNDAY MIXTAPE, we’re happily having a little indie feast for the end of an eventful week with some of our favourite indie lovers. First up, my favourite love song ever by Beat Culture, what might be the best remix of Pumped Up Kicks out there by End The Noise, another banging Selebrities remix and Just Go by GERMANY GERMANY and Steffaloo, a special closing track to celebrate two things: successful breaking-up AND – more importantly – the return to the music scene by one of the most noteable Canadian artists in 2012!

The sound of 2011 recap: fanni

2011 has been one hell of a crazy ride in all parts of this life of mine and a just-as-crazy amount of amazing music has delivered the soundtrack to all the craziness. (Plus crazy seems to be my favourite word of the year.) Starting this blog together with my favourite Berliner Julia has allowed slash forced me to spend hours and hours and hours on discovering new sounds, talking to bands and planning shows and I’ve loved every bit of it. Germany Germany – Transatlantic

The independent music project from Victoria / Canada that is Germany Germany (Oh, what a name! Oh, why that name?) was already featured in my recent post about Toy Camera – a collaboration between Germany Germany and Steffaloo. Drew Harris, the man behind Germany Germany himself sums up his work with the word “Adventures”. Which is perfectly cohesive with the DIY aesthetic that forms the basis of the sound of Germany Germany: “the intention of creating something unique rather than something perfect”. Which is possibly also why his latest EP, out May 2011, is entitled Adventures. Transatlantic is one of my favourite tracks on the EP and I fell in love with the simply yet artsy yet authentic video right away.

Isn’t it exciting when to of your favourite artists unite to produce something even more banging than each one of them would on their own? It is indeed. this time, Steph Thompson aka Steffaloo (who was also featured in my last post, yes, and yes, I seem to be slightly obsessed with her stuff, and yes, this is not gonna be the last post on her) joined forces with Germany Germany for their collaboration project Toy Camera. their new ep blissful youth was released today & is available for free here.
