Win tickets & Don’t miss: Kate Boy at Privatclub, May 31st

Kate-Boy-The-Way-We-Are

While we’re never surprised to hear something real forward-thinking when it comes to electronic music from Scandinavia, this Swedish slash Aussie band Kate Boy caught us off guard when they released their debut single Northern Lights back in November 2012 and left us all drooling for more. With more being the second single In Your Eyes and the latest release The Way We Are, recently premiered on Stereogum, we got an extra dose of those bold vocals and sharp crispy synths that gives Kate Boy‘s sound its powerful and reckless feel.

Now Kate Boy are bringing their sound to Berlin and we’re insanely excited for their show on May 31 – a date that had been seeming anything else around it in our agendas look less important for weeks. What with the thing taking place at Privatclub Berlin, a cozy night full of good-looking people and swell-sounding tunes is to be expected.

We love it, you love it, everyone loves it. So. You guys in it?
WIN IT! We’re giving away 1×2 spots on the guestlist for this night full of goodness!

Here’s what you do: ONE – be a friend on facebook, TWO – send us a loveletter with the subject line ‘Kate Boy’ and your favourite Scandinavian band. All of that until May 30, please. Hit it!

Win tickets & Don’t miss: C.R.E.A.M. O.N. at Backyard, 5/25

cream on flyer

… Remember how mad excited we were about our DJ gig at FluxFriday here at PDC? Well apparently, we’re not the only ones getting wet eyes and dancy feet when Jay-Z hits up the speakers. Which is why we’re mad excited once more. This event that’s about to happen to Berlin is an ice-cream-lickin’ dream come true. Here’s the deal:

  • The bestest of the best Hip Hop from the 90s and 00s will be back and loud, so pull out your moves cause I wanna see them.
  • You’re free to start fingerlickin’ right now – there will be Bum Bum for everyone. That’s right, the epic ice cream from our childhood with the chewing gum stick. Priceless.
  • More yuminess is on its way, brought to you by Efas Frozen Yoghurt, because we like it sweet and melty.
  • Because it ain’t no party without the booze, your thirsty lips will be enjoying one of the finest. The produce of Kreuzberg’s Our/Berlin Vodka distillery, that is.

It was all a dream, now it´s all with C.R.E.A.M.!

Now. You guys in it to win it?

WIN IT: We wouldn’t be your PonyDance babes if we didn’t make this even creamier for you. That’s right, we’re giving away 1×2 spots on the guestlist for this biest of a party!

A love letter to Mac Demarco, his band and Sean Nicholas Savage

IMG_3093
How do you describe one of the best rock shows you have ever seen? Where two musicians of such different kind just did what they are best at and you just felt so happy? Where the sweat was dripping from your forehead, you almost could not breathe but just didn’t not care? Well the last show I have seen at Privatclub Berlin last week was just that kind of show. First there was this magical creature called Sean Nicholas Savage. Who might as well be called the tropical Marvin Gaye. From weird pop capital Montreal of course. His glances were captivating, hypnotising, his voice clear as crystal , hinting to a sex holiday in Miami so badly, but with lyrics so sad that the audience was left wondering in despair.

But that was not it, no – no. In contrast, Mac Demarco instantly changed the energy level on stage onto happy destruction. I seriously have never seen such a happy, careless band, where the bassist was bouncing up and down like a rubber ball and the guitar riffs still felt so in your face that  goosebumps were crawling all over your body. They covered Rammstein, rapped, stage-dived and in the end Mac sang a lovesong to his girl in the audience and mouth-kissed her for seconds that seemed like hours. What’s left to say you’ll ask? If you EVER get the chance to see either of the above musicians live, you should not miss it. Because this might just be one of the best rock shows you have ever seen.

A night out with Halasan Bazar and friends

IMG_2962

Friends, free Vodka and free tunes, what more can your heart wish for? This past Wednesday, we were invited by our friends of Nordic By Nature to see Halasan Bazar, a psych pop band formed in Copenhagen, Denmark. But actually they are from Denmark, the UK, Australia and Norway. If you don’t know these guys yet, there is to say that “Halazan” is actually a Yoga practice, where you have to bent your knees amongst other things. You pretty much have to love them because they call themselves names like Cptn. Habi Halasan, The Mysterious Mr. Bazar, Henry The Rabbit, Dr. Grobble, Fangdelu und Monsieur Monitor. And they release their stuff on a TAPE label called Crash Symbols.

So no wonder Halasan Bazars Rollingstone-esque vibes captured us from the first minute on that mid-week day, whilst we were sipping at Our Berlin Vodka spiced up ginger mule cocktails and letting the summery breeze blow carelessly through our hair. Feel the love, enjoy some impressions from a jolly night out and be happy it is almost the weekend!
