Host a screening of Efterklang’s epic film THE GHOST OF PIRAMIDA

TheGhostofPiramida-1

North, far north from Iceland, Norway and the rest of Scandinavia lies Svalbard (or Spitzbergen), an archipelago that is home to many polar bears and few people. Looking for inspiration for their latest album and being the sound hunters they are, Efterklang decided to visit the most abandoned part of Svalbard – Piramida, a ghost town formerly inhabited by Russian miners that had moved away from home in hope for a better life. Accompanied by a Russian polar bear guard, the band dives into the rough beauty of Piramida and finds a town that is empty of people but full with meditative quietness and reminiscent happy memories. Since Efterklang have a strong believe that culture is at its best when it is shared, they offer YOU the opportunity to host a free open screening of the resulting film of this experience – The Ghost of Piramida. So if I was you, i would not hesitate – all you need is a screen and a sound system in order to experience these incredible 57 minutes! Screenings can be run from today February 8th until March 24th.

Video: A Brief History of John Baldessari

So this might not be an actual movie trailer and thus might not necessarily own its place in this category, but. For one, this is a great fckn short movie. Why do an actual movie that would require an actual trailer when you can press a whole lot of information in 5 minutes 55 seconds (plus considering that our attention span has diminished to that of a three-year-old)? Exactly. Second, the fact that the story in this short film is spoken by Tom Waits should be enough for it to have a rightful place on here. The filmmakers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have created a dope-ass portrait of the life of John Baldessari, one of the most important brains in modern concept and media art, now aged 80.

Trailer: Something From Nothing – The Art Of Rap

A Hip-Hop documentary directed by the legendary Ice-T just hit my radar and oh my, can I wait for that movie, no-uh, I definitely can’t. Featuring the above-mentioned godfather of Gangster Rap plus Rap royalty like RUN DMC, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Kanye West, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Mos Def, Grandmaster Caz, Q-Tip or Eminem,  Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap goes on a hunt for the roots of Rap. Oh and Ima just go with what my love Kanye has to say: “It’s Q-Tip’s voice, it’s Snoop’s voice and personality”.

Watch Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap in theatres starting June 15. A ridiculous two months wait only. Ha. Haha. Easy, Tiger!

Ice-T takes us on an intimate journey into the heart and soul of hip-hop with the legends of rap music. This performance documentary goes beyond the stardom and the bling to explore what goes on inside the minds, and erupts from the lips, of the grandmasters of rap. (…) What emerges is a better understanding of, and a tribute to, an original American art form that brought poetry to a new generation.
