MOVEMENT – Feel Real

Newly-signed to Modular People and dishing up a first single full of a sophisticated use of tropical-feeling percussion, MOVEMENT are a hot candidate on our one’s to watch list for 2013. The three-piece based out of Sydney is made up of Jesse James Ward, Lewis Wade and Sean Walker, dude friends that have been creating music together for two years before officially releasing their debut single. Feel Real is due out digitally on May 24 via Modular, with a remix EP on its way and set for release in late June.

SO – enough of the facts. If you’re up for the weekend in a HELL-YESS-ish way like I am, you just found your track of the day. Carefree and ready for a meaty barbecue tonight.

Introducing: Clientèle

Newly-formed producer collective Clientèle out of Helsinki has just released their first song off whatever there is to come – sure thing is: I can’t wait to hear it. With heavy beats, raw hip hop vocals and sleek synths, Clientèle‘s debut Genny evolves around a vibe that’s reminiscent of that overly epic Jim-E Stack Bootleg of A$AP Rocky‘s Purple Swag. And I can’t find a single bad thing about that. Scandinavia, you’re the best thing that ever happened to us. E-VER.

Call it futurebass, call it chillwave, call it post-dubstep, call it ambient, call it what you will. Fact is, ambiance is what the Re:Antarctica EP creates, and it lingers all around you even when it’s over. So you hit play again. Glitch-heavy and full of slick beats, the tracks are wrapped around gentle melodies and vocal snippets that create a bright beachy feel, just right for a mellow summer evening.

Tiger Tsunami is the electronic project of London-based producer Christian Parker, who – having heard some nice words about his music by a couple of big names on the internetz world of music, he decided to release a free download EP, featuring remixes by upcoming electronic artists Nuages, Koloto and Fxxxyblnt.

Introducing: The Holydrug Couple

the holydrug peopleOr what I’d call them: Chile’s Tame Impala. I’m not entirely sure if The Holydrug Couple needs introducing, since they do have way over 2000 likes on facebook, but I sure have never heard of them. In any case, I’m very excited to find a band from South America making psychedelic rock, since this continent is not exactly known for their modern music export.

The Santiago-based duo, consisting of Ives Sepúlveda and Manuel Parra, made their debut in 2011 with a self-released LP, after which they were quickly picked up by Brooklyn-based label Sacred Bones. Below you can listen to Noctuary, their first LP for Sacred Bones, which was released earlier on this year. So not exactly recent, but it’s never too late for good music now is it?

Introducing: Barbarossa

It had never gotten really quiet around Barbarossa ever since his start-offs Chemical Campfires and Sea Like Blood on Fence Records back in the lates Naughties. Having left that smoochy acoustic phase behind for a sound more made of drum machines and slight synths, James Mathé suddenly makes us go all excited about his upcoming 10-track LP Bloodlines, due out August 5 via Memphis Industries.

While the first teaser track The Load sports a somewhat indie-poppier, more classically singer-songwriter sound, Turbine, the second release off Bloodlines is out today and just the drum-heavy kind of jam that wakes up your mid-week numbness. Stream both tracks below and head over to the man’s website if you dig it – Turbine is available for free download in exchange for your e-mail data.
