Soothing afterwork tunes by Ashtar Command

Tonight I’m ready to share an old but special gem with you, one that’s so soothing, it’s almost gonna make you fall asleep in the subway after a long crazy day at work. Or school, or whatever. I’ve loved this one since I was 19, so it must be suitable for pretty much every phase of life. Ashtar Command‘s take on Mazzy Star’s classic Into Dust, taken from their 1993 album So Tonight That I Might See, takes the track to an amazing total of 9 minutes and adds multilayered elements that give it a little more tempo while sticking to the original dreaminess of this beauty.

And while we’re at it: don’t ever try to Google Ashtar Command. Unless you’re someone who votes violet. It just gets too weird.

Don’t miss: Mark Lanegan at C-Club Berlin March 18

Mark Lanegan from Seattle is forty fuckin seven – 47 – and still hotness. If you don’t believe us come and join us at Columbia Club to see this legend of great American rock music. Formerly playing in The Screaming Trees, Queens Of The Stone Age and The Gutter Twins, Mark returned in 2012 with his first solo album in 8 years. An excellent dark but beautiful album called “Blues Funeral” where he used an old drum computer and keybords instead of his guitar. You should listen to this at night in your car if you have one and and be wild and naughty. Let us come together for this glorious occasion.

Happy Friday with Django Django

Django Django from Edinburgh have been on my to blog list for a long time. Now today is the day, after releasing this jamming jam “Default” it is time for another banger called “Storm”. Some might call it psyched “Avant Pop” – we say that does not fully clarify how much this band ROCKS.

We found it quite clarifying what NME said about them:

“It’s a dream of the psychedelic tropics, a heady explosion of colours, an album that takes what it means to be ‘in an indie band’ and gives it a good shake. Time to pay a visit.”

Listen below and shake your bumbum for the sake of Friday.

Free Download: PANAMA – Good Winter (A Bon Iver Remix Album)

PANAMA gave a very very famous band the remix treatment and called that album for obvious reasons “Good Winter”. Yeppa, we are talking about one of my favorite bands: Bon Iver! Songs of Bon Iver’s “For Emma, Forever Ago…”, “Blood Bank” and “Bon Iver, Bon Iver” were taken as inspirations by PANAMA to create completely new versions or I rather say completely new songs that still have a hint of the original tracks. And the outcome is 8 beautifully composed songs, my favorites being “Blossom ( Re: Stacks)” and “Full of nothing (Woods)”.

As a special treat, you can download that remix album for free on PANAMA’s bandcamp.
